In the last year of high school:
I felt lost.
I Had no idea what I wanted to do with my life.
Most of my friends had applied to and received offers from their top Universities, or knew where they would go to work. But not me.
I felt as though I should know what to do, because that is what I needed to decide, but that I was not able to.
I knew that I wanted to live an awesome Life that is different to the "norm", and that I wanted to go to University.
So I decided to take 1 year off before starting University to answer the question:
"What do I want to do with my Life?"
I knew that the answer would not just find me. No.
I had to go and FIND IT!
Because I am curious about the world, enjoy meeting people, and have a deep passion for exploring places & travel, that is how I decided I would find my Purpose.
I thought to myself that experiencing new things and going out of my COMFORT ZONE would push me, and hopefully help me identify the things that are important to me.
It WORKED!
Through all of these experiences (& a lot of thinking) I figured out what it is that fulfils me, what it is that I want to bring to this world, and what I want to do with my Life.
Now of course, these goals may change, but at least I know where to start.
What I learned was that through Action, and new experiences with an open & curious mind, you can learn about yourself and the world.
So although a lot didn't go to plan in the last year (I was planning to spend the whole year in Australia & New Zealand), I am happy because I achieved my real mission in the year.
What does this mean for you?
If you know what gives you Purpose and what it is that you want to achieve in your Life, AMAZING! Celebrate that and keep going!
But if you don't know, then I suggest a strategy of trying different things, asking questions, and seeing what ignites the fire inside you.
Because when you find that, you can go on with your Life with a sure sense of direction, and I think a lot of us struggle with that big question: Why am I here?
And if we all knew our purpose and could help each other achieve it, I believe the world would be a better and more fulfilled place.
I have not been active on this Blog for a few weeks now, but I am BACK, and you can expect consistent posts every Thursday and Sunday at 10am (CET) from now :)
