I know what you are thinking...
That thing we used to do, where you were able to see awesome places, meet awesome people, and broaden your horizons.
Back before, well you know... all this!
Here are my thoughts on Travelling during the Corona Pandemic, the logistics and the morals.
So to start, I LOVE Travelling.
And the Corona Pandemic happened just before the start of my Gap Year, (which is when you take a year off after you graduate from school to travel and see the world), which meant that the travel plans I had for my Gap year, like everyone else's plans, got COMPLETELY destroyed.
And since then, even now, travelling, and planning to travel, has been totally different.
It is very difficult to know if you are allowed to travel, when you will be able to travel, and on top of that... if you even should travel!
I have experienced a few trips now in the Corona Era. Having travelled to Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Germany, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland, and Costa Rica!
So I know that it is very different from how it used to be, and I could probably even write several books about all the different rules, ways that countries are handling it, and the way that everything seems to change every other week!
But the focus of this post is about whether you "should" travel.
And this is quite a polarising issue.
Of course you have the clear safety issues of potentially increased contact with people, which can cause you to spread the virus, and that puts people's lives at risk; but you also have the moral issues, like whether it is ok to travel to places where the people living there may not be as fortunate as you, and therefore if you are putting them at risk, they may not be able to cope as well as you might.
Since this is a complex issue I would love to hear your thoughts, so let's talk about it! Let me know in the comments!
I will post more about this topic in the future, so if you are interested, join to be notified when a new post is up!
Thanks for reading,
Have a great day my Friends,
Peace,
Niklas
